growing up greenfingered
As the 3rd generation of Lomax my hands were in compost after my first steps. As I grew so did my interest and knowledge of plants. I helped with the pricking out of seedlings into wooden trays which my Nanna had made (she was a dab hand with a hammer) nurturing them and seeing them flourish with wonderful results. At 13 and after seeing my mum making up moss baskets, I had a go.
Years on and tens of thousands of baskets later, just as when I was a toddler you will still normally find me with my hands in compost. The availability of more plant varieties has given greater depth of colour and texture to baskets, but the planting process is much the same. We still grow our own basket plants giving us a greater choice of variety, the ability to grow quality plants and ultimately produce a lovely full hanging basket.
I am a passionate gardener and plantswoman and have been for as long as I can remember. Right from starting working at our Cheadle Hulme site, through to the current day, I have always believed that we should work with our customers to create a friendly and enjoyable experience for them. I see myself as a very creative person and I'm always looking for new ideas and challenges for the business.
